Due to continuous growth across the immunology service, we are now looking to recruit a motivated and passionate Advanced Clinical Practitioner.


The Immunology Nursing team currently consists of Band 6 and 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists, research nurses and specialist nurses who manage designated cohorts of patients.

We are an experienced, dynamic, and friendly team who always places the child first and at the centre of the care delivery.

Across the team we provide expert care and support to children, young people, and families with a wide range of Primary Immune Deficiencies (PIDs).

Our work is extremely rewarding, as we facilitate children's positive healthcare experience and build meaningful relationships with families.

We are looking for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Immunology to lead the long-term follow-up/transition pathways to the next level As the clinical expert who takes responsibility for children and young people accessing Immunology long-term follow-up care, you will be involved in the health assessment, initiation of treatment and monitoring for late effect post curative intervention (HSCT, gene therapy and thymus transplant), programs and pathways.

Our patients vary in complexity, and you will be an autonomous, proactive, and innovative leader who is always supporting and ensuring high-quality care to patients and families while developing an impressive repertoire of clinical and leadership skills.

Patients are followed up in Immunology LTFU clinic until they reach the transition stage.


You will be supported by a named consultant and clinical supervisor and be working closely with the wider medical and nursing team in immunology.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
Registered actively with one of the cores professionally registered groups (HEE 2017) able to undertake ACP training
Registered qualification with your core professional group, as a non-medical prescriber (independent prescriber) & actively practicing
Evidence of previous IRMER training / radiology safety or willing to undertake
Evidence of advanced communication skills and/or working towards relevant training
Non-medical Blood Prescribing course or willingness to undertake

Evidence of ongoing, dynamic continuous professional development, with demonstrable clinical competencies, relevant to the area.
Advanced Paediatric Resuscitation (EPLS)

Thorough knowledge relevant to the specialty/ department / field of practice - immunology
Thorough knowledge of professional & current issues in children's healthcare needs, ACP health agenda
Safeguarding Children & Adults procedures & responsibilities
Relevant experience at a senior level in a relevant paediatric healthcare environment
Evidence of working with babies, children, or young people & their families to improve patient experience
Experience & evidence of sustaining change / quality improvement
Using outcome measures & key performance indicators to demonstrate the quality and efficiency of clinical care
Awareness of equality, diversity & cultural diversity

Knowledge of the importance of evidence-based practice & how quality improvement, audit & research improves care outcomes
Knowledge of developing practice standards, clinical audit, benchmarking & clinical / quality improvement
Experience of handling clinical incidents & complaints & implementation of subsequent learning
Partakes in professional development groups

Professional credibility, relevant evidence of advanced clinical skills within children's services
Able to contribute to the development & implementation of the trust strategic vision for nursing and ACP role development
Excellent teaching, training & assessment skills
Independent nurse (non-medical prescriber) prescribing

Quality improvement, practice development and service improvement skills

Ability to initiate, manage and sustain change to meet the needs of children & young people
