Account Executive - Politics, Engagement & Planning

About the role


The 'eyes and ears' for your account teams, you will provide regular research, intelligence and insight to your client teams and for new businesses pitches.

In your day-to-day, you will also be the first to tackle drafting pieces of work – press releases, newsletters, website content, or key messages – as well as the logistical lead for public consultation events.


Client work:
Being the 'eyes and ears' for your account teams.

Monitoring press and social media accounts of key stakeholders and community groups, compiling reports (where needed) and flagging intelligence to clients.nBeing the first port of call for our consultation channels.

Monitoring consultation inboxes and drafting responses to enquiries. This could be from a local resident or an MP.nDrafting consultation and communications materials for client teams.

This includes collateral like flyers and newsletters, press notices, stakeholder lists, website content, event programmes, consultation materials, key messages and Q&As.nAttending internal meetings and client meetings where appropriate.nStaffing consultation events – exhibitions, workshops, virtual webinars etc., where needed including evenings and weekends on occasion.nOverseeing exhibition logistics and helping to manage third party suppliers – for instance print and distribution companies, and local papers.nBeing a point of contact for clients, as part of a client handling team which will typically consist of an Account Manager, Account Director and Director.nDeveloping media handling skills, both proactive and reactive.

This could mean selling in stories around key milestones in the planning programme - such as launch of consultation, submission and approval.nDeveloping skills and understanding on how we use social media in consultations.

This includes running an ad campaign, linking this to digital surveys, and analysing the results.nHelping to maintain an up-to-date contact database and filing system for the project.


Corporate and financial:


Ensuring your time is inputted daily and accurately on to the correct timesheets.nLeading on a 'borough specialism' and be responsible for updating the borough profile regularly.

This means you'll become the political guru for a London Borough we're particularly active in.

You'll read the local papers, monitor political moves, attend or monitor key committees and meetings through the year (such as the planning committee and the AGM) as well as be aware of major developments in the borough.


New Biz, Networking & Contacts:
Assisting Account Directors and Directors with new business tenders where needed.

This might include doing some political or background research on a new project or site.nHelping to develop and maintain relationships with clients and associates.nKeeping a look out for any new business opportunities and flagging these to senior account team leads.
