Job Overview

Join our team as an Unreal Engine VR Developer and become a pivotal player in our multi-disciplinary product team. You'll have the opportunity to shape both the technical and creative directions of our VR Training and Assessment solutions.

Under the guidance of the product owner, you'll collaborate closely with UX designers and fellow developers, contributing to an expanding team that values every voice.

Together, we strive to craft unparalleled products for our users.


Role FocusnCraft high-quality, well-documented, and reusable Blueprint code, enhancing it with C++ as necessary.nIntegrate third-party plugins with our current build and requirements.nUtilize a custom source build of the Unreal Engine, alongside AWS services such as GameLift, DynamoDB, Cognito, and Lambda.nConduct thorough testing to ensure builds perform seamlessly under user conditions, including packaging and user-environment simulation.nEngage in QA activities, debugging, build deployment, and creative contributions towards new interactions, gameplay mechanics, and environmental designs.


Our Product:
nOur product is an immersive self-led experience for users to go through in the office or at home.

The environments are each designed to teach or measure different aspects of work-related behaviour or ability, ranging from the more familiar (such as an office reception) to the more creative and unexpected (such as an Egyptian crypt).nFrom a software perspective, this combines environmental creation, along with online capabilities through AWS integration (e.g., log-ins, user accounts, online multiplayer, data storage).nWe work with a wide range of corporate and university clients including EY, British Airways, NIHR, Clyde and Co, and University College Dublin.


We deploying to Android platforms, our app is supported on the Oculus Quest 2 and 3 and Pico Neo 3 and 4.

We're always on the lookout to incorporate new and innovative hardware and input mechanisms to enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
nDevelop clean, optimized high and low-level code in engine within the designed frameworknIdentify technical issues and solve complex problems with innovative solutionsnDevelop and test code, fix bugs, and profile and optimize code to an agreed design strategynResearch innovative ideas to improve efficiency and satisfy technical requirementsnHelp user test VR environments and processesnHelp manage and deploy VR solutions (e.g. pushing builds through MDM software)nTesting builds so that they are working in the user end state – E.g. packaging builds and testing as close to user conditions as possible.

Essential skills and behavioural preferences:

nDegree in Computer Science or a related field.nProficiency in creating a source build of Unreal Engine.nComprehensive understanding of game engine architecture.nA robust passion for VR, AI, and immersive technologies.nExceptional problem-solving skills, with a logical and methodical approach.nIndependence in work, with minimal need for supervision.nStrong user empathy, with the ability to identify and solve user-level problems.nKeen observational skills, with an aptitude for identifying and improving suboptimal processes.nAn enthusiastic approach to learning, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.nOutstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.nSelf-motivated, with the drive to lead projects to successful completion.
