Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Speech Therapist with excellent interpersonal skills to join our team.

This will initially be a 12 month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extending the contract into a permanent post at the end of the 12 months.

As a Speech Therapist within our team you will receive support from our Senior Speech and Language Therapist to help you progress in your career and aspirations.

You will have a
wonderfully varied caseload, which will include a nice mix of some schools' based work (EHCP contracts), as well as some community based therapy with preschool children in the child's home and within their nursery.


Your specialist interests will be taken into account when allocating you clients to oversee.

And you will be able to access training to keep up-to-date with the current most effective therapy techniques and strategies.

The post holder will have at least two year's experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist. It is expected that you will have passed your autonomous status and are now confident to practice more autonomously.

Essential requirements:

- a minimum of 2 years experience working as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist
- a certified qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- hold current registrations with RCSLT and HCPC
- highly developed communication skills both written and oral
- is a car driver with access to their own car for work
- experience of writing EHCP reports and reports for use at Annual Reviews
- have a good knowledge of safeguarding principals
- experience of completing initial assessments autonomously
- experience completing therapy with children independently
- excellent skills building rapport with clients and parents

It is desirable that the applicant:

  • Have previous experience of delivering speech and language therapy interventions to children with communication difficulties
  • Administrative / personal assistant skills
  • Experience delivering formal and informal assessments (e.g. CELF, RAPT)
  • Experience of using PROMPT and Cycles approaches to speech disorders

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:
a) the assessment and treatment of children with speech, language and communication needs.

b) managing your own caseload and timetable

c) report writing (including some EHCP reports)

d) delivering training to parents and educational staff

e) liaising with parents/ educational staff/ other professionals regarding the child

f) administrative tasks such as booking appointments/ writing notes/ creating resources
