Job summary:

Have you got what it takes to inspire and support young people to take positive actions for nature?

We're looking for an individual with experience of engaging young audiences (aged to coordinate and deliver Grow Wild's Youth Project offer.

During 2024 Grow Wild will be awarding grants to 20 young people across the UK, to run their own projects inspired by UK native plants and fungi.

Your role will involve recruiting and supporting the grant recipients, creating and delivering online training to upskill and connect them, and building relationships with a network of local supporting organisations.


You will be responsible for tracking participant progress, maintaining accurate records and providing remote assistance and mentoring to individuals as required.

You will ensure each young person has the support they need to succeed and get the most out of delivering their Grow Wild project, including achieving a Kew Young Environmental Leader Award.


Job description:

  • Grow Wild is a programme of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, a world leader in plant and fungal science. Since 2014, Grow Wild has won multiple national awards for its scale, impact and creativity. The team has built large intellectual and digital assets and engaged community networks. Grow Wild was publicly voted the UK's Best Environment Project in the National Lottery Awards on BBC1. During 2024, Grow Wild will deliver 25 community projects and 20 youth projects and continue engaging its audiences online. The main target audiences will be children, young people and adults, especially those unengaged with nature and living in urban and disadvantaged areas.

Person specification:


We're looking for an individual with experience of delivering high quality youth outreach/learning, including development of training sessions and resources for young people of a range of abilities and backgrounds.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, along with the ability to work successfully both independently and in collaboration with other team members.

We're looking for someone with high attention to detail, who can prioritise and complete complex planning and administrative tasks both accurately and efficiently.
