What You'll Do at Elekta

As a Head of Program, you will be the business owner of the Lifecycle Management / Continuous Engineering Program.

It's a senior leadership role which reports to Head of Engineering and the role could be based out of UK with a preference to Crawley.


The Head of Program will be responsible:

  • To optimize the performance from the value stream (Lifecycle Management / Continuous Engineering) through leadership of the assigned resources, and governance of intake / planning and execution processes.
  • For overseeing the execution of a portfolio of programs or projects associated to the value stream globally.
  • To Ensure a strategic approach to complex Product Lifecycle drivers
  • balancing the needs of internal and external customers to optimize value delivery.
The right stuff

  • To lead and contribute to the strategic planning and execution of activities associated to Value Stream, working with Product Management to achieve business goals, and prioritizing of initiatives.

Within the Product Lifecycle Program projects will include:

  • New feature / functionality for an existing platform.
  • New product implementation (NPI) for an R&D Program.
  • Product Lifecycle management, such as managing Cost of Non-Quality (CoNQ) or Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) programs, ensuring a strategic approach to obsolescence etc.
Ensure that projects and developments are made according to Elekta R&D processes and methodologies as per Elekta quality system. Ensure the operational effectiveness of the Program, resolving cross functional issues impeding program objectives.

To manage the cross functional resources that have been assigned to the value stream in relation to delivery of the program.

Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the R&D organization. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and Medical Device development best practices.


What we believe you have- Must possess diverse leadership skills, be cultural aware and have a solid understanding of international business and industry trends in Medical Device Industries.- Must have 10+years of leadership experience with specific experience in R&D Product Development in a Med-Tech environment.- Possess proven full life-cycle experience in complex technology research and product development.- Lead and manage the time-to-market of products and speed up response time to market demands.- Successfully lead and manage other high potential leaders (Senior Managers and experts) and associated staff and engineers.- Excellent project management skills: capable of ensuring multiple projects stay on-track and are delivered within budget, including internal resource planning and scheduling.- Excellent understanding and execution of lean and agile principles- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with executive management, non-engineers, and engineers.- Possess the leadership and management skills to bring structure, discipline, and process to a R&D environment, while retaining the ability to work in a changing environment.
