Using your skills and experience you will support colleagues as we provide expert advice to support development and deliver key projects for NCC to support Local Nature Recovery, Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity Net Gain.


You will work as a member of the Specialist Advice team within our Environment Service, using your experience to protect, enhance and promote the Council's assets for the benefit of residents and visitors and work within our passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced team as we deliver projects and provide professional advice to Environment Service colleagues, Planning and other Council services, Councillors and members of the public.


As an experienced Landscape or PRoW Officer, you will hold a relevant recognised qualification to degree level or can demonstrate through experience and training the necessary knowledge to carry out the full range of duties.

You will be able to communicate at all levels, be able to work to meet deadlines and targets, as well as design and implement management plans and work schedules.

You will need to be able to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Provide specialist PRoW advice relating to the councils' statutory and nonstatutory planning functions.
  • Evaluate design quality of schemes to ensure they comply with legislation, approved policies and guidance.
  • Undertake site visits to formulate recommendations, liaising with the relevant planning officer.
  • Ensure planning decisions comply with statutory responsibilities related to PRoW.
  • Work with Environment Service colleagues, NCC Planning and other specialists to provide consistent professional advice.
  • Develop a strategic approach to development of the countryside access network in Norfolk
  • Plan and develop ways to implement key countryside access improvements linked to strategic growth changes, and work with colleagues on issues such as recreational impact mitigation.
  • Use strategic plans for countryside access such as those outlined in the Norfolk Rights of Way Improvement Plan/ Countryside Access Plan to develop projects and planning improvements
