MLM Developer, Band 6- EPR Configuration

Gloucester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Over the last 5 years the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has taken a massive leap forward in its digital maturity. Central to this is the adoption of an Electronic Patient Record (EPR). While this system provides a wide range of functionality out of the box there are times when we need to develop further functionality. This is achieved by the use of Medical Logic Modules (MLM's) which use a markup Language called Arden Syntax. In this role you will be responsible for the development of the MLM's.

It is an exciting time to be a part of the GHFT EPR team. We are moving forward fast with our Digital strategy, currently in the phase of implementing a closed loop medicine administration process and delivering optimizations for other projects such as Nursing/Doctor documentation.

The team offers lots of opportunities to develop technically and has a wide range of staff members who have worked in many different departments and are happy to share their knowledge. We are determined to be at the forefront of using digital innovation in healthcare to allow clinicians spend more time with patients as well as providing them the information needed to make clinical decisions.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a skilled developer to design, create, and maintain the MLM's for our EPR system. You will be responsible for implementing clinical decision support algorithms, and ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the MLM's. You will also be engaging with stakeholders within the EPR team and across the trust to offer your expertise and advice when planning projects as well as using their knowledge to help ensure the clinical decision support algorithms conform to national standards and local policies. As a result, the successful candidate will need to show that they are able to work well in a team and are happy to consult with clinicians and subject matter experts on topics that are outside their understanding. Another key attribute will be to explain technical parts of the role in a way which is accessible to stakeholders who do not have the same level of technical understanding. About us Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the largest employer in the county and with over 8,000 staff, we are one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK. We offer a generous annual leave allowance, excellent bank rates, access to the excellent NHS Pension Scheme, discounts for local shops, restaurants and services, access to our health and well-being hub, access to our two on-site nurseries, flexible working options, discounted public transport, reward and recognition schemes, exercise and activity classes and membership to our popular hospital choir.

The Trust is committed to developing staff to recognize their full potential. The EPR team frequently runs internal training sessions to share knowledge and best practice across the team as well as external courses that will help in your personal development.

You will be working as part of a team of around 15 people who are all very supportive and will happily offer assistance where it is needed.
