Job summary

The Automation Developer will develop, test, maintain, monitor and support both clinical and corporate robotic process automations.

You will support the day-to-day management and development of critical clinical system automation across the Trust. This will involve working with a variety of technologies and programming languages, tools and standards. The role will be responsible for the suite of automation tools utilised within the Trust to provide key processing of routine tasks.

Working with the wider System Development Team you will contribute to system architecture design, development, quality assurance, and release management for all in-house supported developments, including custom built applications.

You will work with business analysts in the trust to understand the business requirements, and design appropriate technical solutions to meet the needs of the organisation to deliver safe and effective patient care.

You will need to be adaptable and capable of using your judgement to prioritise and make decisions. You must be prepared to listen to and understand System and Quality Management issues raised by users, and successfully resolve any problems identified.

You will be expected to convey a positive, professional image, representing the Digital Team. You must demonstrate a proactive approach to meet requests for support, and exercise appropriate initiative in a high profile and busy environment and be able to demonstrate the ability to liaise effectively and confidently with people at all levels.

Job responsibilities

Lead project development teams working on client and internal automation projects where required.

Deliver automation projects. Building automations which are delivered to time, budget and agreed specification.

Develop, implement, and support systems using a variety of technologies, tools whilst following health care standards and specifications

Follow Trust coding standards and best practices

Provide peer review and assistance for system development, ensuring systems are tested for accuracy, performance, data quality and resilience

Contribute to the development strategy and associated programme of implementation of clinical systems, ensuring they support the vision of integrating all data into the main Trust EPR

To advise on best practice on use of technology, systems, and development

Skilling, via documentation and training, systems support teams in the maintenance of custom scripts and systems to diagnose and fix issues within their skill set and scope of role

To assist development of clinical systems, ensuring pro-active monitoring solutions are in place to ensure they operate reliably, and performance is acceptable. This will entail capacity management, service management and change and release management

Working with business analysts to understand requirements for their systems, and work with suppliers and digital teams to deliver a fit for purpose solution

Working with the IT & Cyber Teams to ensure that all components used within the department are secure, and following trust standards

Qualifications

Essential

Relevant Degree or Masters, or equivalent experience Evidence of Personal Development

Desirable

Technical Qualifications Blue Prism developer certification

Experience

Essential

Substantial years' experience in an automation development role. Has written system documentation and on-going maintenance and support of systems Relational Database experience with any of the following (SQL, MySQL, or Oracle)

Experience of clinical system development and maintenance Experience supporting NHS Clinical Systems & Applications

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential

Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical teams & individuals Problem solving, logical trouble shooting and analytical skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to plan own workload and co-ordinate a variety of tasks

Desirable

Knowledge of server environments required to run an application
