Birmingham City University is a large and diverse institution right in the heart of the city and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Re-Tune Consultant to join our dynamic team.

The University's Innovation, Enterprise and Employability department is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Re-Tune Consultant to support the delivery of Graduate Re-Tune, an award winning, unique, and innovative project working collaboratively with Aston University, University of Birmingham and Jobcentre Plus to support graduates into positive outcomes.


THE ROLE:


You will provide effective career guidance support for graduates through a range of employability activities targeted specifically at those identified as 'at risk' of being unemployed or underemployed after graduation.


With a particular focus on supporting graduates registered with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) accessing support from Jobcentre Plus (JCP), this role will specifically develop engagement with unemployed and underemployed graduates locally.


You will be responsible for a coordinated and proactive approach supporting recent BCU graduates to secure graduate level employment, through a wide range of initiatives which will also involve business development activities and working with our project partners; Aston University, University of Birmingham and Jobcentre Plus.


Your work will straddle several key areas; Employer engagement, Careers+, Alumni and Marketing, enabling you to build effective relationships with recent graduates and creating routes to graduate projects and key employers.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high quality information, advice, career guidance and employability support for recent graduates enabling them to secure graduate level work.
  • Support graduates in making informed career choices, understanding the labour market and progressing onto employment, further study or other positive outcomes.
  • Identify graduate opportunities and match graduates with suitable roles, handling the process from beginning to end.
  • Account management of employer relationships through delivering customer service excellence
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to maximise positive outcomes for the project in a target driven environment.
  • Manage and lead on various projects.
  • Effectively deputise on behalf of the Graduate Re-Tune Programme Manager, attending relevant meetings and other events as required.
  • Ensure project administration is compliant through setting up effective systems to track and report on activity and outcomes.
  • Maintain the University CRM system or other associated databases with details of employer contacts, client interaction with services and impact of activity.
  • Co design and deliver skills workshops to support graduates identified as unemployed or underemployed, sourcing additional resource where appropriate.
  • Deliver engaging content interacting with a diverse range of graduates using innovative ideas delivered through technology and online media to enhance and embed learning.
  • Design and create initiatives and relevant resources.
  • Create a range of local marketing materials; sourcing, writing, and editing content and communications aimed at recent graduates.
  • Actively support careers fairs, employer led events and open days along with other employability or university related activities which may on occasion take place during an evening or at the weekend.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • A relevant professional qualification in Advice and Guidance, Careers, Recruitment, or a related area.
  • Significant experience of providing careers consultancy and interventions within a professional setting. Experience within a Further, Higher Education or Welfare to Work setting is desirable.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and persuade.
  • Ability to collaborate and negotiate with a range of stakeholders at all levels including senior leaders and academic colleagues.
  • Experience of working to targets or KPIs.
  • Experience of relationship management; facetoface, online and over the telephone.
  • Experience of recruitment, organising employer events, B2B relationship management and/or business development.
  • Experience of networking and maintaining effective links with employers.
  • Experience of developing, organising, and delivering training programmes within a professional setting.
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service to diverse stakeholders, including supporting customers remotely and face to face.
