An exciting 12-month fixed term opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and driven Physiotherapist to join the Acute Therapies Orthopaedics Team at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow.

You and your team will be responsible for delivering specialist Physiotherapy services within the orthopaedic team. You will be an essential part of the large multidisciplinary team and part of the wider inpatient therapy team. This well-established team within the orthopaedic services covers both inpatients wards and non-weight bearing pathway in the community.

The successful applicant will have significant experience at Band 6 level in trauma & orthopaedics and MSK conditions and be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and management acumen.


You will have an opportunity to work alongside a clinical specialist developing skills in a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, working closely with occupational therapists, social workers and intermediate care teams.

You will be supported and actively encouraged in developing your leadership and clinical skills in this area, to facilitate service improvement and integration with community services and other providers.

As an autonomous practitioner to assess and treat own case load and provide a highly specialist orthopaedic physiotherapy service to patients.

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), assessing and treating patients with highly complex disability associated with orthopaedic patients and maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.

To be a clinical lead for the orthopaedic physiotherapy service.

To work closely with the orthopaedic MDT and cross-site clinical and therapy leads to support the development of the orthopaedic physiotherapy service.

To work collaboratively with patients, carers and with colleagues in health and social services to ensure effective service planning, policy and delivery of services to their specific patient group.

To contribute to the management of all aspects of the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service. This includes prioritizing and organizing all referrals to the orthopaedic inpatients and non-weight bearing service and allocation of patients.
To be responsible for the development and appraisal of the team members, including band 6, band 5, therapy assistants and students

o Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy o Health Professions Council Registration o Evidence of relevant post graduate courses / CPD within the specialist area to Masters level or equivalent e.g.

o Minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical experience o 2 years' experience at a Band 6 level in Orthopaedics and Outpatient fields o Evidence of theoretical and practical learning in previous posts leading to highly specialist level within the specialty o Evidence of managing own caseload (punctuality, prioritisation and time management) o Experience of supervising / managing / developing junior and assistants through clinical supervisions, mentoring and teaching o Evidence of proactive involvement in service development.
