Responsible for the safe maintenance, assembly, dismantling and repair of equipment others may use.

Working to standards laid down in Trust policies and legislation to provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff and visitors 3.

ORGANISATIONAL CHART 4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Undertake unsupervised routine and non-routine maintenance and minor repair work.

Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grades of the post. Respond to switchboard and building management system alarms. eg. Fire alarms, MRI alarms, Lift Trappings, including supervising the release of trapped passengers.

Provide, maintain, repair and adjust traction and wheelchair equipment in conjunction with medical practitioners and patients. 5.

INFECTION CONTROL The jobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Infection Control policies, in particular by practising Universal Infection Control Precautions.

Hand hygiene must be performed before and after contact with patients and their environment. 8.

HEALTH AND SAFETY / RISK MANAGEMENT All staff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users.


This includes complying at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Health and Safety policies, in particular by following agreed security and safer working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system 9.

TRAINING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development by ensuring that Continuous Professional Development remains a priority.

The jobholder will undertake all mandatory training required for the role. 11. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS To respect patient and Trust confidentiality at all times and not divulge patient information.


This job does involve long priods of physical activity, possibly in adverse and inclement weather conditions, and therefore the post holder must be capable of undertaking such duties.

Frequently required to work alone for prolonged periods This job will involve frequent exposure to hazards and unpleasant working conditions e.g.

Exposure to high temperatures working in Plant Rooms, unpleasant conditions working in drains and ducts, Asbestos after appropriate training and using PPE.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Lifting weights frequently during the shift.


E.g Steam Valves, Large electrical motors or Wash basins, weighing over 15kg with no mechanical aids and maybe difficult in lifting Several periods a shift tightening large bolts, screwing pipes and fixing intricate equipment requiring strength and dexterity and complex machine tools Frequent Working at heights and in cramped spaces Occasional lifting of very heavy weights and equipment using mechanical aids.
