We are looking for a high profile, passionate and motivated individual to champion and lead our clients sustainability agenda.

Your role will be a combination of evangelist, marketeer, communicator, and analyst.

Working directly with the Group Exec Team you will understand what the business needs to do to deliver a robust, market leading, data driven sustainability strategy whichwill make our world a better place, our business a great place to work, and will enable the client to retain and win business.


Duties:

  • Understand and effectively articulate national/sector/competitor best practice, and actual performance
  • Understand customer requirements plans and aspirations
  • Set out what the sustainability strategy should be and obtain enthusiastic support from key stakeholders
  • Manage the development and implementation of the agreed sustainability strategy, including existing and new initiatives
  • Develop excellent relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, regulators, suppliers, and opinion formers
  • Lead and facilitate an internal Sustainability Group and proactively participate in appropriate external forums
  • Ensure that relevant legislative and requirements are at least met and where commercially advantageous are exceeded and/or delivered early
  • Support sustainable product development.
  • Influence PR, Marketing, Communications, Product and Point of Sale materials to highlight our/their sustainability credentials
  • Highlight risks and make recommendations, working with procurement so that sustainability is on the agenda.
  • Oversee key sustainability initiatives, certification bodies, suppliers, third party brands/ wholesalers, government bodies, external working groups, recyclers, and sustainable material suppliers.
  • Develop a set of metrics that the business use to review progress and communicate/present performance data across the organisation.

Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in a sustainability role
  • Good understanding and appreciation for a wide range of sustainability topics
  • Proficient in translating technical facts and figures into business language
  • Experience in using environmental reporting
  • Passionate and motivated about sustainability, but able to articulate and deliver a plan and get stuff done
  • Smart and analytical leader, who can propose flexible alternatives and see ways around issues to achieve results and continuous improvement and development
  • Strong team player able to build relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates resilience and overcomes setbacks, using all feedback as productive and improvement opportunity
  • Able to prioritize workload effectively to ensure core tasks are delivered on time and within Budget


Salary is around the 75K basic plus 20% bonus plus a generous car allowance plus extensive list of other benefits to include pension, holiday etc.
