Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pharmacist with a strong interest in mental health to join our team as a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist. Your role will involve providing Pharmacy and Medicines management services to Inpatient Mental health and Specialist services. We need someone proactive, driven, and experienced in a secondary care setting.

You should collaborate effectively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals in the multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, you will play a key role in improving our clinical pharmacy service and participating in Quality Improvement projects to enhance patient care.

The successful candidate must show compassion and respect for individuals with mental health illnesses and be committed to enhancing their well-being through the safe and effective use of medicines.

Main Duties of the Job

- Develop clinical pharmacy services within the Luton and Bedfordshire directorates

- Implement and monitor clinical pharmacy standards

- Ensure high-quality, patient-focused clinical services

- Use Quality Improvement methodology to identify and address service gaps and issues

- Manage stock control of medicines and optimize medicine use for inpatient wards

- Oversee clozapine supply for inpatient and community service users

- Provide medicine services to community and inpatient service users in Luton and Bedfordshire

- Identify service delivery gaps and develop medicine optimization initiatives

Education/Qualification/Training

Essential

  • Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Pre-registration and Post-registration training
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council and/or Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in a mental health setting

Desirable

  • Experience in clinical pharmacy with older people
  • Interest in Psychiatry qualification
  • Working towards a higher Degree/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to communicate medicine-related information effectively
  • Experience in mentorship and training
  • Clinical audit participation
  • Experience in providing clinical mental health services
