  • People/24/268289We have an exciting opportunity to join the Duty and Assessment team. As part of the First Response service area we work with young people and their families when they are experiencing difficult situations, providing support to families to enable children to remain cared for within their families, where it is safe to do so. As a Family Worker you will hold cases and be responsible for identified tasks including supervising family contact sessions


The Duty & Assessment Team predominately undertake child in need assessments (Single Assessments) and child protection assessments (Section 47's) using a range of child and adult tools to enhance our work and to design short, medium or long-term interventions alongside families that make the difference for them and their children.


Work is fast-paced and varied, no two days are the same but there is ample opportunity to come together for support and reflection.

What it's like working in our team:

The Duty and Assessment team also benefits from dedicated admin support, a mixture of senior practitioners, experienced Social Workers, newly qualified staff, Family Workers and two Assistant Team Managers.

We also have, across the whole service, strong working relationships with the full range of local statutory and voluntary sector agencies to help support families and reduce risk to children and young people.


Our teams are supported by specialist officers in domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse, meaning no lengthy waits for much needed services for our families.

It is all here, accessible and underpinning the planning and work being delivered.

Access to family group conferences and mediation work with families is additionally available and supports all involved, to secure decisions and outcomes in children's best interests.
