We are currently looking for a
Benefit Risk Assessor to join our
Benefit Risk Evaluation functions within the
Safety and Surveillance group**.

This is a
full-time opportunity, on a
permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.


We are currently operate a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business.

Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office.

Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.


The Benefit Risk Evaluation functions monitor the safety of medical products, evaluating new safety signals and reviewing the benefits and risks of medical devices and medicines in response to new information in order to develop effective and measurable risk mitigation measures to protect patients and the public.


A benefit risk evaluation assessor is required to undertake assessment work on medicines and devices within the Cardiovascular and Fluid Management team (TAU8).

The role involves assessment of regulatory, scientific and non-clinical aspects of procedures, contributing to the Agency's wider Pharmacovigilance activities and ensuring that safe and effective medicines and medical devices continue to be available to UK patients.


What's the role?

  • Assessment of safety data, including conducting assessments, making evidencebased recommendations, preparing and presenting assessments
  • Contribution to safety communications, policy and procedures, including communication with relevant stakeholders
  • Commitment to learning and development of additional skills to enhance critical appraisal abilities for more complex assessment work, including sharing knowledge
  • Joint working with team members and contributing to shared team meetings and projects

Who are we looking for?

  • Knowledge and experience of national and European regulations and procedures applicable to pharmacovigilance
  • Ability to identify the key issues and longerterm implications in assessment work, considering relevant stakeholders to take a clear and considered approach to situations when making decisions and judgements
  • Good level of experience of assessment work to a high level of performance including meeting deadlines
  • Appropriate level of taking ownership and holding self accountable for decisions, able to ask for help when needed
  • Good interpersonal skills to facilitate teamworking and cooperating with colleagues from different disciplines
