About the role
To head up, oversee and control the shaping and readiness of projects within the Change directorate which comprises of:

Pipeline of change:

Work with Enterprise Architecture, Business Partners to ensure all new needs are clearly understood (impact assessed and HL solution outlined), prioritised, approved at Executive level and funded to feed the pipeline of changes to be delivered into the organisation.


High Level shaping and portfolio planning: Work with the formation squads to ensure prioritised needs are impact assessed and shaped at a high level in the most timely and effective way, ensuring a clear understanding of the size, scale, complexity, resource requirements/constraints, risks and dependencies for the change to be successfully delivered. As part of shaping, understanding and clearly outlining dependencies and risks across the portfolio to ensure the right considerations are made as to the timing and approach for initiating a new project is optimal and viable for effective delivery and adoption. Forecasting and developing the portfolio plan for initiating new projects using time, complexity and transition states/phases throughout the financial year for optimal use of capacity and realisation of benefits.

Stakeholder Management:

Ensuring strong stakeholder engagement, instilling trust and confidence in the value of the shaping stage to inform decision making.

Ensures clear and consistent outputs from the formation squads in language that is simple, relatable and can be understood by stakeholders.

Is confident in presenting at an Executive level and able to constructively challenge where appropriate at all leadership levels.

Demand and Supply Management:

Overall portfolio demand and supply planning that operates as a 2-way approach with Business Leaders, outlining the options to prioritise, scale up and down as required without compromising the ability to successfully absorb change into the organisation.

Clearly outlining the high level requirements needed to resource and mobilise projects.

Work closely with the PMO team and resource/capability leads to ensure clear and visible demand and capacity planning is in place, managed and maintained (overlaid with inflight delivery demand/supply).

Strategy and Budget Planning:

A good understanding of the Group IT Strat Plan and subsequent Financial Year Business Plan that outlines the core priorities to be delivered into the business requiring Change Team support.

Play an active role in the annual strategy and business planning cycle, feeding in learnings, insights and gaps identified from the previous Financial Year.

Working within the Business Plan constraints, ensuring funding is suitably forecast, understood and in place, approved and budget codes are set up in readiness for project mobilisation.


Quality Assurance:

Work with the PMO Manager to set and control the boundaries, frameworks and assurance under which the shaping of projects is informative for decision makers, effective, timely, flexible, and of a good standard to enable well informed, swift and robust mobilisation of project teams for delivery.


Continuous learning and improvement:

Using risks/themes/patterns, lessons learned and delivery performance to work with senior leaders, associated teams and the Change Team to inform a continual cycle of improvement when shaping, initiating and delivering projects.


Visibility, reporting and Insights:
Work in partnership with the Head of Portfolio Delivery and PMO Manager to provide systemised reporting on the performance of the change portfolio both within the function and to wider business leaders

Leadership, team development and engagement:
Leading a large team of cross functional change professionals with varying skillsets i.e. Analysis, Business Change, Solution Architecture, Testing.

Building core change capabilities and communities of practice to drive high standards of change skills, capabilities, and performance, continually adapting and maturing in line with internal needs and external best practice.
