The main purpose of the role is to to ensure Public Contact Business Systems are configured, maintained and developed to meet the Public Contact business requirements, to optimise the user experience and provide detailed analysis of systems and interfaces.

Main Responsibilities:

To provide a resilient and comprehensive system administration, security management, system functionality and availability, performance monitoring service of relevant Public Contact ICT systems, ensuring and providing a co-ordinated approach.

To provide an effective interface at the highest level between users and technical specialists/service providers for all requests that cannot be directly resolved, ensuring that priority setting and escalation procedures are applied effectively.

To accurately maintain guidance and policies, ensuring system compliance with legislation.

To carry out analysis of system data tables and interface logs and produce detailed reports for Management Teams, PSD, HMIC, IPCC, Home Office, FOI, etc. To present data as exhibits for internal Discipline Hearings, Coroner, Magistrate and Crown Courts.

To represent the organisation at relevant ICT User Groups and within relevant on-line ICT Communities to develop and share best practice.

To understand and interpret business requirements to provide meaningful detailed information for the business enabling system configuration to support the business requirement and user experience.

To establish, maintain and administer the security environment of the systems including the completion of changes to and monitoring usage of User Privilege, authorisations, passwords to prevent abuse of system data and facilities.

To ensure data audit checks, data verification, data back-up, data archive and management of back-up media are carried out.

To carry out system acceptance testing for all new functionality both in Force and with Software suppliers. Report on any system faults and issues to software supplier. Create and disseminate User Guides to support users.

To diagnose and rectify problems with available knowledge including the provision of information to users on known solutions, updates, known errors, new facilities.

To engage with Project Teams to provide advice and undertake relevant tasks to support Public Contact Business systems improvements, enhancements or replacements including system testing.

To mentor, tutor, and coach staff in new systems, systems procedure, that have been developed to fix issues and problems.

Maintain effective and efficient use of Force systems for the Public Contact environment.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

Experience/Skills:

Educated to A Level or equivalent standard.

Understanding the importance of confidentiality and sensitive data.

Working knowledge of systems within a large organisation.

Good technical working knowledge of command and control technologies.

Highly developed IT skills including use of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to use computerised and web based systems effectively.

Experience of working as part of a team in a high demand environment, showing the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work to critical timescales.

Experience of working to policy, legislation and guidance.

Evidence of interpreting user needs and requirements and translating into solutions.

Experience of presenting information both verbally and in writing at all levels both internally and externally within an organisation.

Proven Customer Service skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise and manage diverse views from colleagues at all levels across the organisation and confidence in dealing with others.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Innovative thinker with desire for continual improvement and natural ability and desire to problem solve.

Excellent attention to detail.
