Job summary

The School aged Immunisation Team are involved in the promotion, planning and high quality safe and efficient delivery of the School aged immunisation programme within Schools and Community settings across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, as directed by NHS team aims to improve the uptake and safe delivery of a large scale immunisation programme within Education and Community settings contributing towards the public health agenda by improving health outcomes for children and young Immunisation team has two bases one at Eastgate and one at Pill Clinic but the immunisations are given in Education and Community settings across North Somerset, Bristol and South role involves the administration of School age immunisations including Flu, HPV, Meningococcal ACWY, Td/IPV in both education and community settings.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to support the planning and delivery of a high quality and efficient School Immunisation programme by meeting the needs of all children and young people groups including: Mainstream schools, Special schools and home educated children across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

To support with improving the uptake rates and safe delivery of a large scale immunisation programme within educational and community settings contributing to the public health agenda by improving outcomes for children and young people. As well as meeting the key performance indicators as identified in the service provide support for children, young people and their families to access the immunisation programme through informed consent for be responsible for ensuring appropriate safety of children and young people and that clinical governance measures are in place in accordance with organisation policy and procedures.

Registered Nurse/ Registered Pharmacist/ Registered Paramedic/Registered Physiotherapist Current NMC/ GPhC/ HCPC registration Safeguarding training Awareness of National and local policy and guidance relating to health protection

Immunisation training for school aged children

Experience

Essential

Experience working with Children and young people Ability to relate to children and their families with special needs, cultural and language difficulties and/or challenging behaviour. Good time management and organisational skills Ability to work as part of a team Practical knowledge, experience and training in child protection procedures A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

Desirable

Experience of working with children/ young people in a community setting Knowledge of Department of Health green book Experience in immunisation programmes and delivery of immunisations
