Applications are invited for the role of School Research Grant Assistant within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. This post is primarily dedicated to supporting research grant administration in the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, whilst also supporting other institutions across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences as part of a wider, flexible team of School Research Grant Assistants.

The School Research Grant Assistant provides expert support and guidance to Principal Investigators (PIs), Department based research staff and the McDonald Institute's Research Manager, with an outcome of timely, accurate and risk-mitigated research grant applications. The role holder works in collaboration with PIs and project support staff to enable effective and efficient grant management of active research grants across the School.

The School Research Grant Assistant will:

provide financial and administrative support and guidance across the full grants lifecycle to academic, research and administrative staff, to enable effective and efficient grant management. create and circulate accessible information about grant opportunities; work with relevant staff to support the development of grant applications and to support grants post award, maximising income and mitigating risk, using University systems such as X5 / Worktribe, CHRIS and CUFS be an excellent communicator with the confidence to relate to a wide range of people and to be an effective team player with a flexible approach. possess high level organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to take initiative and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.

The successful applicant will join a team of experienced research grant personnel, working collaboratively across the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Although experience in a research role is advantageous, applications from individuals with transferable skills are welcome, since full training in research grant systems and processes will be provided, where required.

This a full-time role, based at the McDonald Institute, Downing Street for two days per week, at the School Office at 17 Mill Lane for one day per week, with the opportunity to work remotely two days per week. Hours and working pattern can be discussed at interview.
