Job summary:


You will work closely with the Government Security Group and the UK intelligence community to understand the key security risks we face and put in place proportionate and effective controls to mitigate them.


Through your work you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the support UKEF provides to UK businesses, the jobs which we help create and sustain, the families and communities who rely on those jobs, and the overseas communities who benefit from the projects we underwrite.


Job description:

The key activities associated with the role are:
Subject Matter Expert

  • Ensure security risks are understood and mitigated proportionately and that sound security risk management practices are embedded in daytoday activities across the Department.
Senior Leadership

  • Lead a team of 5, setting a clear sense of vision and purpose, where people feel they belong and can thrive.
  • Ensuring the team works collaboratively with colleagues from across UKEF to improve the security posture of the department. With a particular focus on building relationships with DDAT colleagues and UKEF assurance functions including Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Knowledge & Information Management, and Internal Audit.
Governance and Policy

  • Formal governance role as a member of the UKEF Security & Information Management Committee (SIMCO) and required to provide a regular update to both the SIMCO and Risk Committee on activities and security risks. This will include developing and sharing a suite of management information to support decision making.
Cross Government

  • Representing UKEF at cross civil service meetings at a senior level, ensuring that best practice and innovation is captured and implemented. And in doing so build a network of security partners across Government.
Cyber Security

  • Lead on cyber security, ensuring that risks are clearly articulated and mitigated, and providing assurance on activities taken out by DDAT colleagues and thirdparty providers.
Business Continuity

  • Responsible for business continuity planning in UKEF.
Personnel Security

  • Responsible for the safety and security of all UKEF staff working in the UK and overseas.

Person specification:

Essential

  • Experience of leading cyber, business continuity planning, personnel and physical security within government, financial services or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and articulate a clear vision.
  • Demonstrable success at building effective teams, attracting and retaining talented individuals as well as taking an active role in developing and mentoring at all levels.
  • Previous experience of acting as a business partner to senior leaders, ability to demonstrate a high degree of professional credibility in maintaining the confidence of UKEF's Executive Committee, Board, and external stakeholders.
