Candidates are expected to posess a sound understanding of diagnostic
Virology and expected to have experience in an NHS diagnostic Virology
laboratory. The successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend working and late shifts
The department provides an extensive range of investigations to support the specialist patient population of this tertiary referral paediatric hospital, and also provides a specialist service to other hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a very experienced and dedicated team to gain extra skills and knowledge of paediatric microbiology.
This is a vibrant, progressive, well equipped, and a ISO15189 accredited
laboratory.
- To select and perform appropriate laboratory investigations on patient samples as requested by the clinical services or determined by a review of clinical details.
- Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the results produced.
- Enter and validate laboratory results produced by themselves or other laboratory staff members.
- To validate ,authorise and report results of investigations, to interpret results to assist diagnosis
- To ensure that all results are reported within agreed turnaround time
- To report and discuss all quality and other issues with senior members of staff.
