Experience, either in-house or private practice, working on regulatory copyright and related matters in multiple EMEA jurisdictions, at the EU level, and analyzing and advising on proposed and current content regulation.

Experience, either in-house or private practice, with negotiation of other collective licensing or remuneration agreements for digital platforms.

Experience, either in-house or private practice, with negotiation of multi-territory music licensing agreements for digital platforms with record labels, music publishers, and collecting societies.

Excellent work ethic, organized with an analytical approach, and ability to manage projects simultaneously under deadline.
~ Excellent business judgment, strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills.

The EMEA Music Legal Team is responsible for advising on all music licensing and related aggregated rights matters for YouTube and Google across EMEA including commercial, product, and regulatory matters.

We are part of a close-knit team of lawyers and legal professionals who operate on a global stage. YouTube, and many of Google's other innovative services, raise complex questions that demand creative and practical answers.

We provide those answers by working at the crossroads of the law and new technology, helping YouTube and Google build innovative and impactful products around the world.

As a member of the EMEA Music Legal team, you will work at the cutting edge of licensing for music and other aggregated rights, supporting related policy development, providing product advice, helping to shape new content-creation and distribution models, working on a wide range of complex and impactful work streams for YouTube and YouTube Music, as well as other Google products.

Responsibilities

Discuss, draft, and review multi-territorial music licensing and other aggregated rights agreements including with record labels, music publishers and local collecting societies, across all Google products, including YouTube and YouTube Music, whilst helping develop and drive licensing strategy, adapting regulatory developments.

Analyze local legal developments and upcoming legislation in order to advise Legal, Policy, Product, and other cross-functional colleagues on the implications for existing and new products and features.

Advise Business teams on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, company policies and procedures, and discussing agreement strategy for agreement renewals (and expiried).

Develop expertise in YouTube, YouTube Music, other relevant Google products, and build relationships with legal and cross-functional colleagues in our EMEA offices, the US, and other regions.

Support the continuous improvement of agreements, licensing frameworks, policy positions, and legal processes.
