What we're looking for...
AG Barr are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to lead a team of Engineering Technicians, reporting to the Maintenance Manager and ensuring that all machinery and equipment is installed, maintained and operated to maximise production output and efficiencies, recommending and implementing improvements where necessary.
Our large factory produces multi formats across a number of high speed modern lines, producing to high quality standards whilst maximising production outputs and minimising overhead costs.
As Engineering Team Leader your responsibilities will include;
- Lead a team of engineers utilising AG BARR performance management platform, BARR behaviours, individual learning and development and objectives with monthly meetings.
- Plan the weekly engineering tasks (planned maintenance and corrective work orders), recommending improvements where appropriate to ensure efficiencies are maximised with a focus on continuous improvement. Manage the allocation and completion of tasks and ensure work orders are completed on time for areas of accountability.
- Equipment (e.g. process, fillers, packaging), both locally and company wide, you will be the key contact for resolution of problems, and development of machine specifications. You will also have input into capital projects as necessary.
- Use AG BARR data sources to provide information into the zonal improvement meetings and follow up actions from these meetings.
- Review and analyse line efficiency including LDS, wastage and downtime data and develop an emerging work strategy and where necessary launch and coordinate A3 improvement programs.
- Produce detailed written reports when and where required i.e. downtime sheets and line log books. Audit minimum 10% of the maintenance tasks ensuring they are completed to the correct standard.
- Coordinate modular / overhaul plans for the lines in cooperation with the Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate the implementation of the engineering element of the site Continuous Improvement program, managing elements such as RCM, RCA Process, & Autonomous Maintenance.
- Manage small capital projects, particularly in maintenance systems, and be conversant in simple project management skills. Manage and control the budget for areas of accountability.
- Report Daily/Weekly KPI performance in relation to engineering KPIs aligned to engineering strategy, including daily attendance at planned meetings with the production team.
- Deliver budget for area of accountability via contractors and spare parts including a contractor reliance reduction programme and inventory reduction programme for business units, e.g. canning.
What you'll bring...
The successful candidate will be;
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a mechanical/electrical engineering discipline.
- An experienced leader, with the ability to engage, motivate and develop team members.
- Preferably experienced within a multi skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- In depth knowledge of maintenance systems and processes.
- Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing continuous improvements, lean manufacturing and Six sigma techniques.
- Highly competent IT skills.
- Attention to detail, with a right first time approach and the ability to spot discrepancies and inaccuracies with ease.
- Problem-solver - tenacious and will use creativity, innovation and an analytical approach to exhaust all options until a satisfactory solution is found.
- Ability to work under your own supervision.
- Proactive attitude.
