About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Supply Chain Excellence to join our team. Based at our Hatfield head office 3 to 4 days a week, this pivotal position entails the development and deployment of the UK Supply Chain Strategy Roadmap, with a particular focus on implementing projects and programmes within our Supply base. You will lead significant projects impacting multiple major suppliers, such as EDI and Cost to Serve, leveraging collaborative resources from suppliers and your own team. Supporting the Supply Chain Director with industry engagement, including external speaking, you will act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, providing expert insights into the latest industry thinking. Additionally, you will lead and develop supply excellence teams, prioritising their work and offering guidance and support. Travel to various Ocado Logistics sites across the UK will be required to maintain and foster stakeholder relationships, enhance team capabilities, and ensure the successful execution of supply chain strategies.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Develop and Deploy Strategy: Own the UK Supply Chain Strategy Roadmap with a focus on deploying projects and programs within our supply base.
  • Lead Major Projects: Oversee significant projects affecting multiple major suppliers, such as EDI and Cost to Serve, using collaborative resources from suppliers and your team.
  • Industry Engagement: Support the Supply Chain Director with industry engagement, including external speaking engagements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, providing expert insights into the latest industry thinking and considerations.
  • Team Development: Lead and develop supply excellence teams, enhancing their technical and business skills, and providing guidance and support for their work prioritisation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work with the Supply Chain Director and Leadership Team to enhance team capabilities, improve ways of working, and foster better relationships with stakeholders.
  • Contract Management: Manage 3PL contracts on behalf of the Supply Chain team as needed.
  • Governance and Performance: Actively improve team governance, capabilities, and performance through continuous development.

  • Proven experience in leading and coaching teams.
  • Strong knowledge of external best practices.
  • A commercially savvy eye for detail.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with senior managers across departments.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Expertise in organising multiple streams of work in parallel.
  • The ability to effectively influence senior stakeholders.
