Job summary

East and Central Brighton Primary Care Network support 9 GP practices in the city centre and beyond.

The Digital Lead role is required to support them to meet their QoF and IIF targets and reduce pressure on GP teams who may lack the resource to do this efficiently.

Our GP practices support some of the most deprived communities in our city. This is an exciting opportunity to help them to do this more efficiently and generate income to continue to support the wellbeing of our population.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the Practices and PCNteam to understand current service models, identify challenges, agreepriorities for improvement and subsequently support delivery of the same. Theywill develop relationships with peers across other PCNs (Sussex and nationwide)to share learning and experience. They will develop relationships with ICBcolleagues.

The post holder will beexpected to:

develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of thePCN digital infrastructure and business intelligence tools in conjunction withexisting practice staff

research digital tools for the PCN practices

proactively project manage all digital projects andalso evaluate effectiveness

ensure all initiatives are supported by a clinicalchampion and Practice management

ensure all staff receive training on the digital toolsavailable within the PCN

ensure all initiatives are fully scoped andunderpinned by a quality improvement methodology

Actively participate in PCN Board meetings and attend practice-based meetings as required either inperson or by submission of relevant papers

About us

East and Central Brighton Primary Care Network supports 9 GP practices in the city centre and beyond. We have a population of over 70000 patients in some of the most deprived areas of the city.

The PCN is innovative and creative and constantly thinking about how we can contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of our population. We work with a number of charities and are just beginning to think about how we can embed ourselves in community centres.

Job responsibilities

The objective of the PCN Digital Lead is to support the PCN to deliver ongoing improvement to digital services for patients whilst ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction. The post holder will lead and develop a strategic plan to build a robust digital infrastructure for East & Central Brighton PCN and to implement this, which:

Is underpinned by a quality improvement methodology

Encourages and motivates integrated working

Drives efficiency and reduces duplication

Reduces variation between Practices

Is underpinned by easy-to-understand data packs to support decision-making that includes, but is not limited to, demand, capacity, utilisation data, staff and patient experience

Builds staff skills and capabilities

Enhances patient access

Takes into consideration the digital maturity of the PCN

Takes into consideration the populations health and wellbeing needs and health inequalities across the PCN

Improves digital accessibility for patients

Leadership & Management

The post holder will be expected to:

develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the PCN digital infrastructure and business intelligence tools in conjunction with existing practice staff

ensure all change is ultimately focused on improving services for all patient groups

research digital tools for the PCN which is aligned to a framework of fundamental principles and seek to procure, in conjunction with Practices, in the most cost effective way, respecting that both Partnerships wish to remain separate

proactively project manage all digital projects and also evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention

ensure all initiatives are supported by a clinical champion and Practice management

lead the development and implementation of digital transformation bids

ensure all staff receive training on the digital tools available within the PCN

ensure the induction of all new members of staff receive training and resources on tools available

ensure all initiatives are fully scoped and underpinned by a quality improvement methodology

remain up to date with the national and local PCN guidance

be responsible for supporting the PCN to identify and make progress with digital transformational change, understanding and interpreting national and system-wide policy developments and initiatives to local circumstances and contexts

participate in PCN Board meetings either in person or by submission of relevant papers

contribute, and lead on, specific projects providing reports at regular intervals and as requested by the PCN Board

Communication, relationship building and presentation skills

The post holder will be expected to:

Work in partnership with the PCN leadership and management team to understand current challenges to effective service delivery and identify solutions, including existing best practice within the PCN.

develop and support delivery of transformational projects by engaging different stakeholders

identify and develop relationships with practice staff, private providers, the local primary care team, neighbouring PCNs and other key partners to enable good working relationships and promote and share best practice

deliver technical information in a non-technical and engaging way to a range of stakeholders
