The Safeguarding and Vulnerabilities team are looking to recruit to the post of Specialist Nurse/Practitioner for Safeguarding Adults and MCA. The post will be part of the wider safeguarding adults team working alongside other colleagues to safeguard and promote the welfare on vulnerable adults including Dementia, Neuro-Diversity and Mental Health and patients who lack Mental Capacity

To assist the Named Professional Safeguarding Adults / MCA (NPSA) with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of innovative practice in the management of Safeguarding Adult cases, PREVENT cases and the Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards agenda and to promote health and well-being and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being due to Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards concerns not being managed.

Main duties of the job Provide specialist clinical advice regarding the identification and management of Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards matters that ensures clinical excellence.

Work with relevant other departments, ensure all relevant Trust policies have appropriate reference and sections that relate to Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards e.g. raising concern policy, restraint, and incident, disciplinary

Facilitate strong operational leadership in the safeguarding adults / Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards agenda and support capacity building to ensure that the skills required to manage such cases are implemented throughout the Trust

Maintain and improve professional standards of care in the identification and management of safeguarding Adult / Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards across all clinical and non-clinical specialties

Assist in the delivery of a comprehensive Safeguarding Adults, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards training programme for trust staff ensuring that attendance is accurately recorded, and non-attendance followed up appropriately

Actively participate in audit by gathering, analyse and evaluate evidence in order to safeguard vulnerable people

Assist with Safeguarding adults, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards investigations as delegated by the NPSA About us The ULHT safeguarding team are a group friendly and supportive professionals who work together to enable the delivery of high quality care and ensure the safety of patients and staff.   • oMaster's Degree in a safeguarding related subject or equivalent experience
  • oRegistered with a statutory health professional council.
  • oEducated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • oEvidence of relevant post registration professional development
  • oPost registration qualification in Safeguarding.
Desirable
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Supervision Qualification
  • Supporting Practice Learning Qualification
  • Experience in both primary and secondary care services
Previous Experience Essential
  • At least 2 years' experience of working with a caseload that includes safeguarding children and /or safeguarding Adults and MCA
  • Experience of supporting change
  • Experience of managing Multi-agency working / relationships
  • Experience of delivering improvements in patient safety and quality
  • Evidence of the proactive involvement in the supervision and development of members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners and training needs analysis.

  • Experience of developing and delivering educational programmes
  • Experience of managing / developing individuals and teams
  • Formal leadership development
  • Experience of working in an acute / Community Trust.

  • Evidence of specialist professional knowledge in the Safeguarding agenda supplemented by specialist training and CPD.
