CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner/Nurse/Social Worker/CBT Therapist/Counsellor/Arts Therapist.

We are looking for an enthusiastic CAMHS Clinician to join our innovative multi-disciplinary Emotional & Behavioural Team (EBT) in North Bedfordshire CAMHS. We would welcome applications from RMN's, Social Workers, CBT Therapists/Counsellors/Arts Therapists.

The main base would be at the CAMHS office, Rush Court, Bedford, MK40 3JT and currently there is flexibility regarding working from home. We are willing to consider candidates who would like to work part-time.

Main duties of the job You will hold a caseload of children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, providing evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. You will also provide support to parents, carers and educational services as well as attending the appropriate MDT meetings.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential
  • Qualification in appropriate mental health profession such as Nursing, Child Psychotherapies, CBT, Counselling, Art Psychotherapy, Social Work, Systemic Practitioner (two years with diploma), Occupational Therapy with MH experience
  • Registration with relevant UK governing body
Desirable
  • Parenting qualification and parenting supervision qualification
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working with a wide range of mental health problems
  • Experience of care planning
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary way
Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse inner city area
Skills Essential
  • Evidence of well-developed clinical skills relevant to CAMHS
  • Specialist clinical skills within in specific therapeutic modalities
  • Able to manage own time and caseload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries
  • Keyboard/computer skills
Desirable
  • Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
  • Teaching skills, both in clinical setting and education centres
Knowledge Essential
  • A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback
  • Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in the field of CAMHS
  • Specific knowledge of pertinent issues for CAMHS
  • A knowledge of CAMHS issues including assessment and interventions
  • Knowledge of The Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and associated legislation
  • Knowledge of specific inner city issues which impact of care delivery
  • Knowledge of the Children's Act and other appropriate legislation
  • A working knowledge of safe guarding Guidelines

  • Emotional effort: Dealing with families in breakdown experiencing trauma and abuse occasional patient complaints
