Position: Network and Infrastructure Manager

  • Responsible to the Deputy Director for Workplace and Platforms for effectively managing and developing the network and core infrastructure services to meet the business requirements.
  • Ensure security, optimum performance, and resilience of the network and infrastructure services.
  • Lead the modernization of UKHSA's network with a focus on SD-WAN & SASE evolution, cloud networking, and strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement of physical and virtual networking capabilities for both on-premise and public cloud infrastructures.
  • Provide technical leadership for LAN and WAN/SDWAN functions incorporating SDN and NFV.
  • Lead network automation strategy for deployment/provisioning and support multi-cloud strategy.
  • Promote infrastructure as code and centralizing configuration technologies to reduce management overhead.
  • Manage security of the network and IT resources, ensuring adequate cover for BAU and project delivery.
  • Deliver efficient operational IT service to key stakeholders.
  • Manage the IT project pipeline and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery within budget.
  • Manage network equipment, servers, storage devices, and communications equipment.
  • Oversee connectivity and services for Internet, VPN, and public cloud infrastructures.
  • Lead transition to SD-WAN technologies and advocate for VPN-less zero trust network architectures.
  • Manage Telecoms equipment and services aligning with GPA IT and Telecoms services.
  • Design, plan, and develop network and infrastructure services within the IT strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute expertise to strategy development and design of projects and solutions.
  • Manage hardware resources, liaising with suppliers for procurement.
  • Effectively manage people by building strong working relationships.
  • Support multi-cloud network strategy and networking requirements.
  • Champion establishment and integration of unified fabric networking.
  • Direct enterprise network topology and patching strategy for all environments.
  • Manage budgets and project/business performance effectively.
  • Support network requirements transitioning to cloud-based operations.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and employment contracts.
