A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the SBU of Endoscopy.

Our clinical Endoscopist team and Gastroenterology Consultant are embarking on a new pilot for Colon capsule endoscopy and continuing their established service for Cytosponge.


To support in this work, we are looking to recruit a Patient Co-ordinator on a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment basis.


You will have the drive, commitment, and motivation to ensure that patients pathways are up to date, they have their procedures in a timely manner, and receive the best possible experience when interacting with our service.


A background in NHS administration roles, along with knowledge and experience of managing patient pathways, managing your own time and able to book and monitor patient appointments are essential to the success of this role.


This role provides you with an opportunity to develop your own communication, time management skills, develop patient pathways and to actively manage your own patient group.

You will also work as part of the small bowel capsule endoscopy team. This aspect of the role will involve contacting patients, sending out appointment letters and inputting details into clinical systems.

The role will involve an element of lone working and occasional cross site cover.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • To provide a key administrative link between the department's Clinical team, ensuring that the small bowel, CCE and Cytosponge services are supported/coordinated effectively, and deadlines are met.
  • Undertake information collection and analysis
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, managers and others within the Unit and Trust wide service users
  • Be the point of contact for all routine enquires facilitating communication and information flows, initiating and responding to correspondence and resolving enquires.
  • Promote within the Business Unit an honest and open culture that encourages the use of initiative, individual and team responsibility
