Head of Risk Management based at Epworth House Derby with Hybrid working from home.

Full time role - 37 hours per week

  • MHA are recruiting for the role of Head of Risk Management, reporting to our Company Secretary and General Counsel working as part of our highly skilled, but friendly Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to help shape the leadership and delivery of all our services across MHA and really make a difference in the lives of the people we support.
  • The role is offered on a permanent contract, working 37 hours per week, based in Derby city centre, with the ability to work flexibly through a balance of home and office working.

About the Role

  • The Head of Risk Management will take the lead in providing assurance on risk management for Health & Safety and Property Compliance to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board. You will take the lead in providing strategic direction and focus on Health and Safety and Property Compliance matters and will ensure that processes and procedures are fit for purpose and support the charity to meet the highest quality standards and supports the welfare of employees and those we support across our services.
  • The role will involve developing and continually improving effective risk management strategies, frameworks and processes to identity and mitigate potential significant risks, while ensuring compliance with policies, regulations and industry standards.
  • The role is important strategically and you will be a member of the Strategic Leadership Team.
  • The role requires a strong understanding of risk management principles (preferably within the social care sector), internal control systems and the ability to provide insightful recommendations to ELT and the Board to drive strategic decision making.
  • You will be supported by and will have responsibility for managing the Health & Safety and Compliance Teams.

About You

  • You will have a high level of qualification and experience in delivering risk management strategies particularly relating to health and safety and property compliance as well as having a detailed knowledge of all health and safety and compliance legislation and regulations. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to think strategically in relation to health, safety and risk management and how this impacts on service delivery. You will be selfmotivated and able to work independently as well as working well as part of a team.
