Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

A company specializing in mechanical design and construction in Newbury is searching for their next lead design engineer. They focus mainly on commercial projects, handling the entire project lifecycle. If you thrive on overseeing a project from inception to completion, this role is perfect for you.

As the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will report directly to the Director and oversee a team of junior Design Engineers and CAD Technicians. Most projects will be situated in the South-East of England, with a focus on new commercial builds and fit-outs. Candidates from either Consultancy or M&E Contractor backgrounds will be considered, although experience in the latter is preferred.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Implementing and agreeing on design programs
- Reviewing and scrutinizing mechanical design documentation at all stages
- Leading design meetings with internal and external stakeholders, establishing goals and solutions
- Working closely with the pre-construction team to ensure adherence to budgets
- Creating and processing requests for information (RFIs)
- Ensuring full compliance with health and safety protocols

Remuneration:

The salary range for this position is between £70,000 and £85,000, potentially more for candidates with extensive experience. This is an opportunity to lead design within a company set for growth.
