Job Summary:

To act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, Receptionist, Practice Coordinators, Patients and local chemist, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients' repeat medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery.



Prescriptions

  • Process Online access/prescription requests
  • Sort Doctors basket and distribute to relevant Doctors
  • Print off repeat medication requests/Electronic Script requests
  • Check for compliance non compliance
  • Check if blood tests due for ACE Inhibitors/Thyroxine etc send letters if required
  • Distributing and monitoring letters from hospitals requiring medication
  • Send letters to patients when medication reviews are required
  • Compare medication list against discharge letter from hospitals and check with GP amendments to be made accordingly
  • Notify Doctors of any anomalies
  • Chase letters from hospital concerning medication and clarify any problems
  • Deal with patient queries and problems in surgery/telephone
  • Deal with Doctors, DN's, Practice Nurse, Midwife queries and prescription requests
  • Deal with Nursing Home scripts and problems
  • Ensure prescriptions for controlled drugs are ready for patients to collect as per GP's instructions
  • Cancel off scripts not collected

Carers Register

  • Keeping up to date when information is received

Cervical Cytology

  • Change ownership of Cervical Cytology to Colette Hancox

Patient Data Changes

  • Deduct deceased patients from practice patient list
  • Entering changes on computer when authorised by GP

Diabetic

Retinopathy

  • To keep updated the Diabetic Retinopathy register

Registration Links

(Back Up)

  • Collect and process amendments, deductions, rejections print off list, distribute and investigate any anomalies

Pathology Links

  • Enter Bowel screening data

Competencies

  • To maintain appropriate consideration, dignity and respect when dealing with patients or other callers to the surgery
  • Ability to plan and organise own workload
  • Key board skills
  • Extensive demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to understand and make use of computerised information systems
  • Ability to produce a variety of business documents using different methods of transcript

This job description is designed to identify principal responsibilities. The post holder will be required to be flexible in developing the role in accordance with changes within the Sherwood House Medical Practice's agenda and priorities.

Pay:
From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
