Could you take responsibility for coordinating and delivering casework services for refugee and asylum-seeking young people in the London area?

About this Opportunity

As
Young Refugee Casework Coordinator you will primarily be responsible for the coordination and delivery of casework services for young asylum seekers and refugees.

For this group living in limbo, with limited government support they can be particularly vulnerable and at risk of experiencing destitution.

You'll take a holistic approach to supporting these individuals, by providing clients with short-term casework support. This could involve directing clients for help with their asylum cases or basic essentials or building strong working relationships with local agencies and charities operating in the local area where individuals can be referred to for further assistance (e.g. social welfare, immigration, health and education).

This is a very rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills, the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure while working to empower young people to access their entitlements in the UK and plan for their future

Meet the team

The Refugee Support service works closely with sector partners to support and meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees.

The service provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, some of whom are experiencing destitution.

You will work closely alongside fellow casework and project coordinators as part of a diverse and dynamic operational team.

This role might be for you if...

  • You've got experience delivering casework with vulnerable clients (ideally within the asylum support system), and you're able to effectively advocate on behalf of clients to realise their rights and entitlements
  • You have experience of working with young people with complex needs
  • You have an understanding of issues relating to young refugees and asylum seekers
  • You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a highpressure environment.
  • You have experience of crossagency partnership and collaborative working
  • You're a great communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience.
  • You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations

We offer a wide range of staff benefits, these include:

  • 36 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
  • pro rata for fixed-term roles
  • Option to buy an extra 5 days annual leave
  • Up to 6% contributory pension
  • Flexible working policy
  • Discounts from a range of online and high street retailers
