London, Greater London, United Kingdom Galop Full time
Job description

About Galop
Galop is the UK's LGBT+ anti-abuse charity.

Founded in 1982 we have been championing the needs of the LGBT+ community for 40 years to increase the rights, freedom, and safety of our communities.

Each year Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse, violence and hate crime through our specialist services.

We provide helplines, counselling, advocacy and group work for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies.

We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.

We are strengths based, person-centred, empowerment-focused, and trauma-informed.

Our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey to healing.

Understanding what LGBT+ survivors need is build through listening to the experience of thousands each year, dedicated policy and institutional advocacy and research into under resourced areas, such as our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence.

About the freelance Supervisor role

We are recruiting a team of experienced, intersectional clinical supervisors to provide clinical supervision to our frontline staff (across helpline, counselling and advocacy).

You will be a confident and ethical practitioner experienced in providing both 1:1 and group clinical supervision to support learning and ongoing development of staff and mitigate against vicarious trauma.

It will be necessary for you to have the skills and experience of running clinical supervision safely by phone, video conference or face to face.

We're looking for qualified clinical supervisors with an active membership of a relevant professional body. We will require evidence of appropriate level of professional indemnity insurance.

We are seeking individuals who can embody a trauma informed approach, a demonstratable understanding the impact of trauma and its impact on frontline staff.

You'll need to have good resilience and self-care, and a strong understanding of the intersectional needs of LGBT+ victims and survivors.

Although your independence will be key in successful delivery of the role, you will form a key part of our clinical governance framework.

We will require brief accurate records of supervision to be kept in line with Galop policies and processes. These roles are named in our processes for managing client complaints, evaluation and ongoing service development.

In providing clinical supervision which complements our mechanisms for learning and development and line management you will help us meet our safeguarding duties and ensure our consistently high-quality services.

We are looking for clinical supervisors with at least two years experience working in voluntary settings with a knowledge of the obligations and requirements of community based voluntary sector services.

Our clinical supervisors will be able to demonstrate strong therapeutic informed interpersonal skills, including coaching and motivational techniques, which can be deployed to create containing relationships in which staff can explore, reflect and develop their work.

You will be able to provide guidance on boundaries, resilience in times of change, safeguarding, risk assessment/management to ensure the well-being of staff.

To ensure an accessible service you may be required to work some evenings dependent on client demand.

You will have experience holding confidentiality for staff, but also provide information to Galop leadership on training needs, any changes required to policy and procedure to ensure high quality services.

Hourly rate £50 -75 per hour, please note freelance clinical supervisors retain responsibility for their own tax, national insurance and pension payments.

Application process
We recognise that your experience may be from unpaid roles as well as formal employment.

We want to know why you're the right person for this role, not whether you've been given the right opportunities.

There is an essential requirement under the Sexual Orientation Regulations 2003 that the post holder has experience of LGBT+ needs and the impact of discrimination.
