Your new role
Southend museums have an exciting opportunity to support the provision of health and wellbeing through increased access to heritage and culture.
The team are looking to appoint a 25hrs per week Wellbeing Assistant in a fixed term capacity until 02nd August 2024.
Within this position, you will welcome visitors to their museum buildings, providing exceptional levels of customer service through engagement with museum displays, guided tours and other activities.
The role will involve arranging and delivering a range of activities to support active lifestyles, dementia awareness, social isolation, lifelong learning and other activities that will be positive to the mental health and wellbeing of local citizens.
In championing both access to culture and improving wellbeing, this position will give you the opportunity to improve lives and celebrate cultural heritage.
The Wellbeing Assistant will work alongside partners in Public Health to signpost visitors to relevant services and support social prescribing.
Along with this, you will also be a key holder and take responsibility for security and presentation of museum sites as well as delivering learning and outreach.
The hours for this position are:
- 9:1 17:15 Wednesday
- 10:1 17:15 Friday
What you'll need to succeed
You are required to have previous experience of working in a front facing role with customers, visitors or service users.
You will need to demonstrate an empathetic approach to working with the public and to delivering high levels of customer service.
There is a need for you to be confident in communicating with people from a range of different backgrounds and comfortable speaking in public on both a 1-2-1 basis and to larger audiences.
The Wellbeing Assistant must have a thorough knowledge of local Public Health provision or be able to demonstrate a passion for Health and Wellbeing and an ability to develop their knowledge further.
A passion for culture and heritage is required as is an ability to undertake all operational requirements of the role to ensure the success and smooth running of both internal and external events.
