An opportunity has arisen for a Building Team Leader (Shifts) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Team who are responsible for the maintenance and meeting legal compliance levels at our City Hospital and other sites. You will provide a professional service to the building team who form part of our in house maintenance team providing a safe and pleasant environment for staff, visitors and patients alike.
Main duties of the job The post holder is responsible for the management and supervision of their engineering maintenance team of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The property portfolio dates from the Victorian era through to modern day. The properties are located on three separate sites, City Hospital Campus, the Queen's Medical Centre Campus and Ropewalk House.The post holder will provide day-to-day supervision and support to their engineering team to ensure that a safe, courteous and efficient service is provided to the building's users.
The post holder will provide Authorised Person duties in line the Health Technical Memorandum appropriate to the role.
The post holder will remain particularly mindful of the vulnerability of patients, including those undergoing invasive procedures or relying on external life-support, and therefore plans and supervises all work with the utmost care.
As the hospital develops and technology, legislation and working practices evolve, the post holder will be required to remain flexible and pro-active and to use their own initiative within the area of responsibility.
The post holder is required to report to, and work closely with the Estates Operations Officer - Engineering. - Qualified to HNC Level or City & Guilds Part 3 in Mechanical Craft Studies or Electrical and Electronic Craft Studies in Electrical Installation Work or Electronic Servicing all with suitable experience.
- Served recognised electrical/mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent form of structured training that is accepted by the profession.
- ILM Team Leader Award or equivalent level of experience working in a supervisory role.
- Trained to undertake Authorised Person duties.
- Relevant experience in the installation and maintenance of plant and equipment together with a comprehensive level of theoretical and practical knowledge across specialist hospital building services.
- Experience of supervisory maintenance work in a large acute hospital setting.
