Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London.

It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn't serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.


We went on to become the world's largest independent record company (now owned by Sony) and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome.

Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member's club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1.

The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise - everything you wouldn't expect to find in a standard office.


There's excellent F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme.

There is an events and conference facility and multiple other products and amenities not typically associated with a workspace.

THE ROLE
We are looking for an eager and experienced Senior Maintenance Assistant to join our team.


Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our compliance with all Health and Safety regulations at The Ministry.

Also making sure that emergency procedures are up to date, fire alarms and panels are serviced.

You will be confident in management and organisation of reactive works in a timely and client considerate fashion.

You will carry out daily, weekly and monthly checks and ensure all appropriate paperwork is up-to-date and in accordance with relevant legislation.

Liaising with team and other key stakeholders to manage competing priorities within The Ministry will be key.

You will manage the maintenance of physical plant, all electrical and mechanical equipment, kitchen equipment, control fire safety systems and the interior and exterior of the building.


You will be dealing with external contractors for all projects and capex ensuring relevant quotes given to the GM with scope of work.

You must have a keen eye for constant attention to detail.


You will manage the stock of consumables, tools and materials in accordance with budget and to ensure tools are safe to use.


You will build relationships with the wider Facilities Department and work across various company sites and buildings when required and manage a maintenance assistant who will support with the scope of works.

You will be able to plan and effectively execute logged jobs in Nexudus. Meeting with members and guests to complete a work schedule as you go.

You will be happy to manage any agency contractors as needed and be available to work evenings and weekends if needed.

You will be responsible for keeping the contractor list and servicing date list up to date.

Proven practical experience and knowledge of mechanical (e.g. HVAC, Electrical, water systems) preferred. Holder or working toward NEBOSH or ISOH certification and a member of Facilities body e.g. IWFM also advantageous.
