The role
As a Project Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Providing Systems Engineering Management expertise across the Skynet programme
Day-to-day, you'll champion the Babcock Engineering Process and support teams to tailor it to their need, whilst overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering activity within the project, ensuring work is completed on time, to budget against the project life cycle. Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering operations, as well as:
Ensure that engineering processes and deliverables meet quality standards and are aligned with best practices achieving Product Quality and Safety aims and objectives, as well as ensure that the product complies with relevant engineering standards, legislations, regulations, and security requirements, liaising with the Chief Engineer. Manage and lead engineering teams, ensuring they have the resources, guidance, and support needed to perform effectively and approve processes recorded in the Programme Engineering Management Plan and associated Work Package Engineering Plans to deliver scope of engineering. Track and report on engineering activity in support of project key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain alignment of outputs with Head of Department, Programme and Project Managers and Programme Technical Authority (PTA) to deliver scope with the cost baseline of delivery, and mitigate risks associated with the project and product, making proactive decisions to prevent or address issues as they arise. Be responsible for creating, maintaining and updating baselines and manage the creation of high-quality design documentation, validation, verification, test and acceptance activities, whilst also being responsible for working with design authority for the creation of solutions in response to customer requirements, from concepts through to in-life support, to deliver technical outcomes..
This role is full time and requires regular travel to Hawthorne, Corsham, Oakhangar, alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Project Engineering Manager:
Extensive and demonstrable systems engineering management and solution design and delivery experience. Full Life Cycle engineering management experience Knowledge of UK MoD practices and ways of working System and Software integration experience, and its interoperability dependencies in large scale System-of Systems. Experience in delivery in a SOSA environment Experience of a range of delivery methods (waterfall, lean, agile, DevOps, etc.)Qualifications for the Project Engineering Manager:
Degree or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering. HNC/HND with equivalent, relevant experience is valued and welcomed. Chartered Engineer or working towards. INCOSE ASEP/CSEP or working towards.Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
