Key Deliverables
To support the accounts team in providing an efficient and proactive assistant role within the accounts department.

The role is varied so we need a conscientious individual that wants to cover all aspects of finance to become a well-rounded accountant.

We are looking for someone with strong purchase ledger experience.

The role will be a contact point for fee earners across the business as well as external stakeholders such as clients and suppliers.

This role is for someone that is keen to develop a good knowledge of the construction industry and care about the success of the business.

This is a dynamic, acquisitive group and we want someone who will grow with the business. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the role covers all locations of the business within the UK and overseas.

General Accounting Responsibilities:

  • To manage the daily post and distribute accordingly
  • To assist with month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • To assist with month end journals
  • To post monies received and paid via the bank into the accounting system
  • To assist in bank reconciliations for all companies

Purchase Ledger responsibilities

  • To effectively process purchase ledger invoices, including accurately coding and entering into CMAP or Sage in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of the month end close
  • To assist in the creation and management of purchase orders for the purchase ledger
  • To accurately match invoices to purchase orders
  • To ensure that all purchase ledger invoices have appropriate supporting authorisation
  • To reconcile all supplier statements
  • To query any discrepancies which may arise through processing
  • To proactively manage all supplier accounts and ensure ledgers are kept tidy and free from debit balances
  • To build strong relationships with suppliers, resolving queries quickly and maintaining a positive external reputation for the business
  • To ensure VAT is processed correctly for all invoices
  • To keep up to date with filing
  • To effectively manage the end to end process of the purchase ledger

Project Finance responsibilities

  • To effectively process purchase ledger invoices through CMAP in a timely manner
  • Support fee earners with project related financial queries

Sales Ledger responsibilities

  • To raise and send out sales invoices and credit notes under supervision of the Finance Manager
  • To deal with any sales ledger queries under supervision of the Finance Manager
  • To provide cover for sales ledger as and when required

Other Financial Responsibilities

  • To make bank payments and transfers as and when required
  • Undertaking daily and weekly reporting as required by the business

Key Attributes Required

  • A highly trustworthy, methodical and hardworking individual is required for this role with the ability to learn
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm for change and an innovative approach are key characteristics
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Good Excel skills are beneficial, together with a desire to learn and develop in this area
  • To be an approachable and friendly face of the finance team for the wider business
  • To have good experience in end to end purchase ledger from purchase order to processing invoice, maintaining supplier ledgers and payment runs
