Prudential Risk Officer

Role Purpose

  • To be responsible for production of the Mortgage Portfolio MI, evolving the pack with a particular focus on forward looking MI, business optimisation and achieving the best balance of risk and reward available in the market.
  • Support the DCRO in second line oversight of ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery and Resolution Plan.
  • Provide Assurance on the Prudential side of the business, including regulatory reporting, capital, treasury, liquidity and funding.
  • Support the Risk & Compliance Team in ensuring that the Society has an effective control framework.
  • Support the Risk & Compliance Team in evolving and maintaining an effective Societywide risk culture

  • Supporting colleagues in any prudential matter.
  • Supporting colleagues in implementing suitable solutions to all regulatory initiatives in relation to prudential side of the business.
  • Supporting DCRO in quarterly Risk Control Self-Assessment process for the Finance Team.
  • Carrying out effective Assurance reviews in accordance with the Combined Assurance Plan.
  • Report specific findings to the relevant business owner and work with the departments (using influencing and decisionmaking skills) to develop action plans for implementation of improvements.
  • Ensure that Compliance can effectively fulfil its aim of being collaborative, business focussed, providing second line assurance that is helpful, relevant and proportionate.
  • Positive feedback from the business regarding supportive, proactive collaboration.
  • Useful Assurance Reviews completed and achievement of Combined Assurance Plan.
  • Actions cleared effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Review at appraisal.
Prudential and Regulatory

  • Supporting the DCRO in all second line Prudential Risk matters, in particular delivering the prudential side of the Combined Assurance Plan.
  • Creating solutions that enable the Society to manage the Financial Risks associated with climate change in particular the physical and transitional risks within our mortgage portfolio.
  • To maintain an awareness of emerging regulation and to monitor the implementation of appropriate policies, procedures, systems and controls to comply.
  • Proactively review relevant websites to capture any changes in regulation or potential changes that should be considered, disseminating information both within the Risk & Compliance Department and to business owners as appropriate.
  • To support on Society projects and internal working groups as required.
  • To be second line data quality champion supporting, helping and encouraging colleagues to get data entry right first time.
  • To support DCRO in development and maintenance of an effective risk culture and/or assist/provide staff training where appropriate.
  • Successful implementation of relevant new Regulation.
  • Useful contribution to Regulatory Updates.
  • Review at appraisal.
