Position Summary

As a pivotal member of our management team, you will embody the essence of Layered Reality, spending a majority of your time behind scenes.

This dynamic role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, ensuring every day brings new challenges and opportunities.

The Performance Manager oversees the creative aspects of the show and is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the artistic integrity of the show, as set originally by the Director.

On a daily basis this role ensures that the cast are able to deliver all live aspects of the show, so that our guests have the best experience possible.

During this time, you are also responsible for information flow of show elements to both cast and crew, so strong communication skills are key.

Scope & Responsibilities

Creative
Creation of notes and feedback on performance to cast and management.
Liaise with the Director & Associate Director on script amendments/updates
Adapt performance according to operational needs.
Enforce the narrative and creative of the show.
Communicate with the IP Holders on any sign-off requirements.

Team Management
Manage the cast of actors.
Facilitate onboarding and training of new team members.
Lead rehearsals and workshops.
Rehearse freelancers and understudies.
Regular spot checking of cast performance.
Conducting walk throughs and safety tours.
Coordinate team scheduling for full time & freelance workers.
Drive team building initiatives in the venue.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety.

Duty Management
Oversee show opening & closing.
Supervise and coordinate the performers.
Manage communication flow between departments.
Provide support relief to the Technical Department.
Troubleshoot performance issues.
Respond to escalations with quick resolution.
Support guests who need assistance during the show.
Compile daily show reports.
Cover Ops1 duties as needed.

Background Experience

You will be a highly self-motivated, creative individual, with a wide variety of management experience working in live theatrical productions.

Previous experience of stage management and working with performers in theatre, events, entertainment or visitor attractions is preferable.

Desired Attributes
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
Positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional show experience.
Excellent communication & leadership skills.
Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and the capability to create and maintain a positive work environment.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with Creative Team & IP Holders.
The ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Excellent presentation skills, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
Strong problem-solving skills to address customer and operational challenges.
Passionate about the industry with a strong knowledge of theatre.
Knowledge of QLab and basic troubleshooting skills.
Confidence in working as part of a team and independently.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
