Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for a skilled Protection Fire Safety Training and Development Manager to join their team at the Service Headquarters in Exeter on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will benefit from a competitive salary ranging from £35,745 to £38,223 per year. There is also an option for some flexibility in work location, subject to agreement with the Line Manager.

About the role:
The Protection Fire Safety Training and Development Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of individuals within the Service areas by:

  • Designing, delivering, and managing Fire Safety Training and Development for Fire Safety Officers and Operational Staff.
  • Delivering presentations for different training events, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, and other fire safety platforms.

Key responsibilities of the Protection Fire Safety Training and Development Manager:

  • Researching, producing, and delivering training materials in line with Service Policy and National Standards.
  • Providing specialist training for Business Fire Safety.
  • Supporting the Service Annual Training Plan by analyzing Training Needs and developing a plan accordingly.
  • Organizing and conducting training events following established guidelines.
  • Collaborating with external entities for income generation opportunities.
  • Coordinating trainers and providing technical training as needed.
  • Attending training courses when necessary.
  • Acting as an assessor for training courses as required.
  • Serving as a point of contact for training providers and managing course nominations.
  • Monitoring training delivery recording systems.
