Universal Machinist

Location - Ramsgate, Kent

Salary - Up to £29,000
Do you have experience of using Lathes/Boring/Grilling or Grinding machines?

We have an exciting opportunity in Ramsgate for a Universal Machinist to work for one of our clients. In this role you will be working full-time, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring other members of the team on the use of machinery
  • Undertaking a breadth of tasks including Precision Grinding, Honing, Boring, Milling, Turning, CNC Turning, Bush/Bearing Fitting working on an extensive variety of components from a wide selection of different aircraft platforms
  • Support the Machine Shop Cell Leader and Machining and Plating Manager with delivering the day to day needs of the Machine Shop operations.
  • To assist, as required with the monitoring of stock levels for bonded metal and consumables
  • To assist, as required with certain elements of machine maintenance (preventative and scheduled)
  • Support with the training and development of the Machine Shop Team (In particular trainees)
  • Other duties as deemed reasonable

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant Engineering qualifications are essential
  • 3 years' Experience working with hand tools, grinding, boring/turning/milling, CNC Turning, and Programming would be desirable
  • Highly numerate and literate
  • Background in aviation is desirable
  • Capable of using, with a high degree of accuracy, a range of measuring tools
  • Able to work in a team in a demanding, customer focused working environment
  • Computer based skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience within aviation would be advantageous
