THIS ROLE ISALSO AVAILABLE AS AN APPRENTICESHIP POST IN PATIENT SERVICE - DETAIL BELOW

Joining the team as an apprentice, you will be involved in a wide range of patient service activities, supporting staff and colleagues in the running of the department.

You will continuously learn and develop your skills by:

Being the first point of contact for patients dealing with a wide variety of queries including training compliance queries and arranging employment inductions. Keeping our staff & colleagues up to date with information relating to queries, this could include outbound calls, emails, video calls or instant messaging. Dealing with patient feedback/complaints and directing to the appropriate team members to resolve Be expected to complete required assignments set for the Patient Service Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship standard.

The apprenticeship is a 12-15 month learning programme consisting of:

12-month training and support to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to gain a Level 2 Patient Service Practitioner qualification. 18 Modules; some modules include, Communication, Teamwork, Understanding the Organisation, Roles and Responsibilities (including Personal Development Planning) Monthly assignments, skills assessments and 1:1 support with a dedicated tutor/assessor Workplace mentor to support you to put your learning into practice

End Point Assessment delivered by Innovate Awarding - graded Pass or Distinction

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to undertake typing, which will include consultant clinics, discharge summaries and patient letters. The role will also include answering the telephone and dealing with queries from patients, relatives & clinical staff as well as supporting the medical secretary with all other admin duties.

Job responsibilities

Supporting Medical Secretaries with typing of clinics/ward rounds using audio equipment* To assist with the dissemination of post to individuals within the department on a day to day basis* Photocopying/faxing* To assist with department filing as and when required* Answering of department telephones and using judgement in responding to queries or taking messages. Ensure that all enquires are dealt with politely, courteously, promptly and professionally* Ordering and monitoring of stationary for the department* Access voicemail and pass on accurate messages* To attend mandatory courses and participate in training programmes relating to areas of work. Ensure that skills and knowledge are up to date and develop when necessary .

To use Careflow (patient record system) to look up patient appointments,addresses and tracking of notes.
