This newly created post, reporting to the Head of Patient Experience, will work with stakeholders internally and externally to identify and implement changes to make a real difference to the lived experiences of our patients and their families and carers and help achieve our strategic objectives. The successful applicant will work across all our central London hospitals and join a diverse, professional and welcoming corporate team. You will enjoy hybrid working and will need to be flexible about working onsite based on the needs of the role. Main duties of the job The Patient Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager will be the operational lead and subject matter expert for patient EDI improvements across the Trust. They will: support the senior leadership of the Trust with expert advice on best practice in relation to identifying and evaluating opportunities and implementing solutions to improve patient experience, access and outcomes. lead the development and operational implementation of the Trust's EDI strategic objectives. This includes stakeholder engagement, definition, and delivery of the implementation plan, developing a suite of metrics to monitor progress, and evaluation of the interventions. Support the development and implementation of patient objectives, strategy, projects, policies, and procedures to ensure the Trust meets legal, national, and best practice obligations under the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion agenda. Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes
  • Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and the NHS obligations under the Equality Act2010 and the Public SectorEqualityDuties
Desirable
  • Continuing professional development, professional qualification, or experience, specifically related to Equalities, Diversity, and Inclusion
Experience Essential
  • Proven NHS/public sector experience
  • Experience of being able to balance competing priorities and meet personal and Trust targets within a fluctuating and demanding workload.
  • Excellent programme and project management experience to agreed deadlines.
  • Demonstrable experience of proactively promoting inclusion among colleagues
  • Understanding of patient community engagement and networks and their role in supporting the wider diversity agenda.
Skills and Abilities Essential
  • Quality focussed with an innovative, flexible approach and the ability to problem solve.
  • Sound IT skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience of manipulating databases.
  • Ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Advanced analytical skills and drawing conclusions from qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources.
  • Being able to present evidence in a clear and concise manner in order to write business reports.
  • Ability to respond to urgent situations in a calm, empathetic and logical manner and manage stressful situations.
  • Proactive, flexible, well-organised and resourceful.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams across the organisation, including executive leads, staff networks, senior managers, and frontline staff.
  • Ability to actively participate in sub-regional, and national forums and networks to share learning and good practice.
  • Strong understanding of cultural differences and cultural integration.
Communication Essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to build relations and influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships with a diverse range of colleagues.
