Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

About the Organisation:

National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level.

NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards.

Our priority is always the same - to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland.

We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.

  • In line with Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates directive, National Services Division (NSD) is establishing a Scottish Strategic Network for Genomics Medicine.
  • There continues to be an increasing demand for genetic capacity and capabilities within NHS Scotland and there is a need to embed genomics medicine into routine healthcare in a coordinated, sustainable way

The Network will:

  • Provide a coherent decision and prioritisation structure for new and emerging tests and medicine ensuring patients are able to access crucial medicines when they become available.
  • Develop Scotland's long term strategy for implementation of genomics into routine care in line with Genome UK.
  • Ensure the delivery of an equitable, efficient and value for money genomics service
  • Generate better value for money in how services are delivered.

National Strategic Networks work across geographical and organisational boundaries to support a 'Once for Scotland' approach to the planning, design and delivery of an integrated, holistic, person-centred care pathway across the health and social care system.

Networks include service users, health and other professionals from education, social care and Third Sector organisations. Engaging with stakeholders at this level requires the postholder to have excellent communication and organisational skills.
