Objectives:

To provide a seamless and effective operation across both the reception areas and main Switchboard.

These teams are aligned the University's Security Services department and as such, will be reporting to the Head of Security Operations and in turn, overseen by the Assistant Director of Security Services.


The post holder will line-manage all aspects of both functions and act as the essential first point of contact for issues arising at both.


Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will directly manage the Reception and Switchboard teams on a daytoday basis, organising and overseeing rota cover and troubleshooting as necessary to ensure switchboard and reception are operating at correct staffing levels and to required standards.
  • The post holder will manage operations at all other Reception locations under the operational control of the Security Services department.
  • The post holder will be required to hold regular meetings with the team members in both Reception and Switchboard services to ensure the delivery of outstanding services.
  • The post holder will be required to provide operational cover on Switchboard or Reception as staff shortages dictate.
  • Along with other Security Services staff, the post holder will be required to be available to take part in the University's Open Days. These tend to fall on weekend days.
  • The post holder will be required to provide support in the implementation of university and departmental procedures and protocols.
  • The post holder will undertake individual assessments and reviews for their direct reports throughout the year.

Requirements:

  • The post holder will have experience of working in a role or environment with either transferable skills, or previous matching roles.
  • The post holder can demonstrate experience of successfully linemanaging a large team on a daytoday basis.
  • The post holder will be educated to GCSE Level 'C' or equivalent, particularly in English Language.
  • The post holder will be able to demonstrate skills outlined within the 'Person Specification' section of the aligned Job Description.
  • The post holder will be able to comply with the requirements outlined within the 'Special Requirements' and 'Expectations of all Staff' sections of the aligned Job Description.
