The Role


An opportunity has arisen for a
Quality Assurance professional reporting directly to the Technical Manager with close working relationships with operations at BRC certified Production Unit at Barking.***You will be responsible for safety, quality and legality of products manufactured on site to agreed quality specifications and standards and delivery of agreed departmental plans as determined by the Technical Manager.

The role is responsible for driving a culture of Quality Assurance across all departments and with all external customers. You'll participate in customer audits and BRC Audits for the site, understand and implement customer requirements.

In this role you'll put steps in place to improve quality, assist in managing hygiene team and QC, responsible for auditing production and line activities and ensure quality and traceability standards are being always maintained.


Responsibilities:

  • To participate in audits for the site e.g., BRC, customer and internal audits.
  • To be responsible for Environmental and Product Micro and allergen testing schedules
  • Ensure planned quality KPIs are met or exceeded, and internal stakeholders receive reports in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, QMS and for example complaints, incidents, QA holds.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action activities when relevant.
  • Accountable for Site Product on Hold system and procedure.
  • Able to conduct a full site traceability within 4 hours.
  • Play a key role in site HACCP team and system development and review.
  • Troubleshoot effectively 'Walking the factory floor' to identify any issues ahead of them arising and taking appropriate action. Dealing with issues as and when required.
  • Escalate issues with GMP standards/ liaising with the Operations Team to implement corrective actions as required.
  • Create quality measurements to track improvement in products
  • Develop quality assurance standards and company processes
  • Adhere to industry quality and safety standards
  • Ensure products meet customer expectations and demand
  • Work closely with the development team to improve existing products
  • Maintain standards for reliability and performance of production
  • Perform any other reasonable request from your line manager

Person specification:

  • Previous experience of efficiently managing, motivating, and developing a team is essential
  • Prior experience in a Quality Assurance role and food manufacturing experience preferred, even better if chilled food production
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Be able to work additional hours as overtime may be required
  • Able to prioritise and manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Good standard of written English and numeracy
  • Good IT skills data entry, report writing (graphs & charts) and photography
  • Good working knowledge of systems and procedures
  • Qualified and competent at Internal Auditing systems and procedures, including effective and timely close out of actions.
  • Level 3 HACCP or commitment to complete
  • Level 3 Food Safety or commitment to complete
