An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Investigation Support Officer within the Public Protection Unit Investigations team in our North Area (Mid - Chelmsford).


In response to investigations into suspected criminal offences you will be responsible for key tasks which will include - researching information and intelligence; gathering and obtaining evidence; attendance at child protection case conferences; completion of safeguarding actions; and gathering and recording intelligence by various means.


The role requires a high degree of professionalism and as such it is essential that you are able to effectively plan and prioritise your workload and possess excellent communication skills.

The ability to work to demanding deadlines is essential, with the ability to complete investigative and safeguarding enquiries to a high standard.

As an Investigation Support Officer, you will be required to work independently and also as part of a team and possess good IT skills.

You have a high degree of flexibility to accommodate operational needs, are highly motivated, pro-active;
You possess excellent communication skills in order to deal with a wide range of situations and people, throughout the spectrum of society, involving officers, members of the public and other organisations; You have the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and statutory partners;

You are able to effectively prioritise your workload and are able to work without close supervision, have the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple customer requirements and cases, simultaneously.

Essex Police offer agile working which allows some flexibility in terms of work arrangements. Due to the operational nature of this role, it will be predominantly office based within an office-based team. Some travel may be required to other police sites to discharge duty.


Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £29,874.00.
